Formerly known as Downing, Thorpe, and James, DTJ Design is a leading architecture, landscape architecture, and planning firm in the Rocky Mountain and Denver Region. DTJ Design specializes in residential and commercial master planning, landscape architecture, site planning, residential and commercial architecture, mixed-use, as well as amenity- oriented resort and golf course community design. We provide services for Public/Civic, Commercial, Mixed-Use, Educational, Residential, Resort, Religious, Master Planning, and Historic Renovation projects.

Over 75% of our work is repeat business, and our satisfied Clients find us to be experienced, capable, and responsive to their needs. DTJ provides services with a staff of 90, including Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Environmental Graphic design teams. Erik Hartronft, AIA, joined his practice Hartronft Fauri Architects with Downing, Thorpe & James, Inc. to become DTJ Design Inc. in 2003. As a Principal and Director of Commercial Architecture, he has developed numerous award-winning projects, including the Boulder Public Library and Hoch Auditorium Library at the University of Kansas. Erik s partner at Hartronft Fauri Architects, Bill Fauri also joined DTJ Design in 2003 as a Senior Architect. Bill has designed projects in four countries and over 30 states. His scope of experience includes commercial, public, and residential projects, with particular expertise in fitness, wellness, and health facilities.

Recent Colorado projects completed by Hartronft Fauri Architects/DTJ Design include Boulder Community Hospital, Community Medical Center in Lafayette; One Boulder Plaza in downtown Boulder, the Riverwalk Mixed-Use Complex in Edwards; Canyon Gate, expansion of St. John s Episcopal Church in Boulder; and planning for a new Town Center in Gunbarrel, north of Boulder, which includes retail and residential uses, as well as a branch library.
